Favre Coming Back? Again?

By Andres Castillo | May 6 2009

brett-favreJust as you thought Brett Favre was finally done, think again. He’s scheduled to meet with Vikings coach, Brad Childress, later this week to discuss a possible return. Last year, the Vikings were Favre’s top choice to land after the feud with the Green Bay Packers, but they weren’t going to send him to a division rival. Now his opportunity comes once again. When Green Bay traded Favre to the Jets, it included a clause that made it all but impossible for the Jets to turn around and ship Favre to the Vikings.

When the Jets granted the future Hall of Fame QB his release last week, it made him a free agent and he could sign with any team he chooses. Many experts say the Vikings are a quarterback away from being a Super Bowl contender. I say, not so fast. The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys thought they were a wide receiver away from being Super Bowl contenders, but it didn’t work out too well for Terrell Owens and his teams, did it? Granted, Owens is a loud mouth that destroys team chemistry but I really don’t think Favre is going to be that X-factor in Minnesota. We’ll see what happens.

Would Brett be a good signing for the Vikings? Have your say in the comments section below!

I agree. Favre has a huge heart for this game and doesn’t want to leave it. His age is catching up faster than he’d like but he’ll stick around the game for sure.. Whether it be a Quarterback Coach or an NFL analyst

What experts are you quoting here when you say that they were a qb away from being super bowl contenders? Not once have i ever heard this and by no means is it true. Not only that but TO went to the Eagles and IN THEIR FIRST YEAR WITH THEM THEY BECAME SUPER BOWL CONTENDERS! So it worked out great. Not only that but TO also made magic his first year in Dallas until Romo screwed them. Do some god damn research and stop writing just to fill pages with text. That or delete this post which is useless.

Before you even begin to criticize the article do the least amount of research before you make a fool of yourself. The matter of the fact with TO Mr. Your biggest fan is that he ruins team chemistry and the teams that had him are happy to let him go. I was giving an example of a position that a team thought they were away from being a Superbowl champion and I gave a quintessential example of perfect player that couldn’t get his team the ring.
And as for Mr. Favre, many experts from NFL.com, ESPN, and the Star Tribune (the Minneapolis Newspaper) say that this team could POTENTIALLY be a QB away from a Superbowl.

  5. I’m with you on this one Andres. You don’t even need an expert to tell you that the Vikings are that close. They have: the best rusher in the league…an awesome defense led by Jaren Allen…a solid receiving core led by Bernard Berrian…so it looks like all they really need is a QB. Tavaris Jackson and Gus just won’t cut it if they want a ring.

I’m not saying that Favre is the missing piece necessarily (because i don’t believe Favre is capable of leading the Vikes to a Super Bowl), but they are only a QB (i don’t know which one though) away from being Super Bowl contenders.

So “Your biggest fan,” I think you are the one needing to do some research instead of ranting. This post is anything but useless. Andres has obviously done some research writing this post, which is more than you can say for yourself I’m sure. So come back when you can appreciate the work that all these people put in to write for this site.

Needless to say, the Eagles WERE superbowl contenders with TO. This is a FACT. As were the cowboys when they acquired him. Theres literally no debating this.

    • Andres Castillo says:

Sorry for the late response. I never knew the cowboys went to the superbowl when they acquired TO? So much for your facts. The point of the article was to show a player heading into a new regime. In this case Favre. This isn’t a debate about TO. It’s about how FAVRE WOULD “fit” in with the Vikings.
